3 Books to Read

Three books to consider reading that I highly rate
John Ruh

As a business person, you might wonder why I am recommending the following books.  What do they have to do with business, profits, sales, etc.  Their strength is in helping you grow your self image so see yourself in a new light.  (As you expand your self image you can expand all of your possibilities).  If you are not a business person, but are interested in further growing yourself, you may find these books inspiring.

Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankel

Victor Frankel is a Jewish psychologist who survived the Nazi camps.  His book gives insight on how, even in the worst of circumstances, one can rise above his/her conditions.  This book is a classic.  I read it 30 years ago and then again recently. I found its message every bit as relevant today as it was earlier. It can help you understand how seemingly meaningless everyday tasks can have meaning when you understand why you are doing them.  Fast and easy to read but thoroughly thought provoking.

My Stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D.

Jill Bolt Taylor is a Harvard trained brain scientist/neurologist who had a massive stroke at the age of 37.  She lost the use of her left brain functions like speech, motor skills and cognitive skills.  Her right brain, however, was still intact and fully functioning and she used it to gain deep insight into peace, harmony, oneness, etc.  This book is a great read for anyone (especially left brain thinkers) to learn how the brain works and how you can create peace and harmony in your own life regardless of circumstances.  A fast read.

A New Earth….Awakening To Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhardt Tolle

Oprah Winfrey interviewed Eckhardt Tolle for 10 weeks in a row. You can view these interviews online at

.  This book provides a better explanation of the nature of the ego than anything else I have ever read.  This may be a difficult read depending on your previous understanding of the subject.  It may be easier to watch Oprah’s interview online first. The book helped me see some things very clearly and focus on being more present and conscious.  Although being more conscious will not necessarily improve your performance (although it may), it can allow you to see reality more clearly and make you an easier person with whom to deal.
