Ego Leadership Training

Ego/Leadership Training For Advanced Leaders
By John Ruh

EGO:  The meaning of this word is as clear as mud.  For this piece, think of it as how you answer the statement, “I am ________.” Or, think of it as the inner self, a thinking, feeling, and willing inner character distinguished from all others.

Basic Premise
Your ego is greedy and unconscious…thus it needs to be managed, rather than letting it run wild.  Ego/leadership training is about getting you to better understand yourself (or, more accurately, yourselves). Even more, it’s about allowing you to manage your ego rather than having it managing you.

Ego gets a bad rap.
I like to think of your ego as your operating system. It allows you to function well in the world.  Where would you be without the skills you have developed? However, it does need managing, coaching and support.

How to do this?
There is no one answer. Be skeptical of anyone who says differently!  However, let me share with you a program and some processes (habits) that, when practiced over time, can change you.  This transformation can be so significant that your level of awareness will expand. In time you will see, hear and experience things very differently. It will also allow you to manage and support your ego (and the egos of others) much better.  At its best it will let you feel really alive and, as a leader, transform the way you support and empower people.

So A) What is it?  B) How does it work? and C) What does it cost?

  • My personal, professional development program (PPDP).
  • It is a process approach that includes, but is not limited to; ongoing one on ones, the use of best practice tools, introspection, support and training on how to be a more effective leader.  Experience PPDP Now!  CLICK HERE.
  • If we are working on quarterly basis with you, it can be part of your contract for five leaders.  If not, it costs $625/person/quarter.

More specifics re what advanced PPDP students can learn:

  • Maxwell Maltz concept of internal self perception.
  • John’s triangle interviewing concept so you see that which is invisible
  • Better understanding of all parts of your ego.
  • DiSC training so you understand how your behavioral traits impact your leadership style.
  • Better understanding of your leadership style and its’ impact on others.
  • Consciousness training and training on how to better manage your ego.
  • Introduction to the right peer group (there is an additional cost associated with this).
  • See level 2 PPDP for more support for leader/manager.  (CLICK HERE for more information on PPDP)

Again, this is only for leaders who are seriously committed to growing, who want to better understand how their ego can become highly skilled and who are open to doing the necessary work to transform themselves.

P.S.  A place to start is to do a free DiSC profile (CLICK HERE for a FREE DISC Profile) on yourself to see how your behavioral style impacts your leadership style.
