Understanding Your Behavioral Style
The DiSC Theory of Behavioral Management

Behavioral research indicates that the most effective people are those who understand themselves, both their strengths and weaknesses, so they can develop strategies to meet the demands of their environment.

The DISC system analyzes your behavioral style, i.e., your manner of doing things. It is a tool used internationally. As a responsive person, you bring more than behavior to the job. You bring your intelligence, values, education, training, skills and experience. But behavior is what others most readily observe. They see HOW you do the job, without always having the opportunity to understand and appreciate your background.

This tool is based on the works of many behavioral scientists, especially Dr. Jung and Dr. William Marston. These scientists have identified four dimensions of normal behavior. These four dimensions fall into the following categories:

  • PROBLEMS – How you approach problems and challenges
  • PEOPLE – How you interact and attempt to influence people
  • PACE – How you respond to change and activities
  • PROCEDURE – How you respond to rules set by others

All people demonstrate some behavior within each dimension. They differ, however, in the intensity of the four factors. To evaluate your behavior, you are asked 24 questions and your responses are analyzed and compared across a well defined population of thousands of people. Statements that apply to you are carefully selected by the computer from thousands of potential combinations and are included in a comprehensive profile of your behavior.
