Vision, Context, Commitment, Responsibility (VCCR)

Vision, context, commitment, responsibility (VCCR)
by John Ruh

Like many teenagers, I longed for success.  In those years, I began to study the personal qualities and behavior that separates high achievers from ordinary performers.  In my business life I was fortunate to meet and interview many highly successful individuals on what they saw as “their” secrets to success.  I concluded the key ingredients to exceptional personal performance are vision, commitment and responsibility.

I would like to add a fourth component to this model and call it context/ perspective, something like an inner, proactive attitude towards success that leaders unconsciously take for granted.  This is imperative. You must have the right belief system, the right context and perspective, in order for the brain to create the messages (or “impulses”) that foster extreme personal performance. Here’s the reason why.

Even if all other factors are in place, if you do not “think” like a successful person, unconsciously you will not act like one.  This is success-sabotage and most people are not even aware of it. Awareness is the first step.  Then the creation of new, positive messages that over time build a positive self perception.  This is what highly successful people have naturally and why it seems so natural when they build one success upon another. In their minds, it’s taken for granted.

Many people I meet can relate to this message. The question now becomes how to support yourself and your team so your vision and goals are achieved.  My answer is a structured plan that is process-oriented.  Over the years I have designed, developed and refined a process-oriented program called my Personal, Professional Development Program (PPDP). People are naturally self motivated when they see their personal and professional goals are alive and well. When they realize company support is available to help them achieve these dreams, a whole new level of self empowerment arrives.  This context and perspective of success is exactly what you and your company can achieve.

If you’re interested in more details about this program, give me a call at 773-775-6636. We’ll talk about some of the ways I’ve used my PPDP system to help other business leaders find higher levels of success. Here’s a link to an overview of this program: CLICK HERE
